Dependent Visa

Securing a Japan dependent visa as a Nepali citizen involves several steps. Firstly, the main visa holder in Japan (such as a spouse or parent) must apply for a Certificate of Eligibility on your behalf from the local immigration office. Once approved, this document is sent to you in Nepal. With the Certificate of Eligibility in hand, you will need to submit necessary documents to the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate. Ensuring that all the documents are correct and fulfills the requirement is essential for you to get the opportunity to join your loved ones in Japan.

In the following list, we outline the essential documents mandated by Japanese authorities to facilitate a successful tourist visa application.

Visa Checklist

  • Visa application form
    Each applicant should fill in a separate form, including child applicants. Form should be printed on both sides. The contact number must belong to the applicant.

  • Valid Passport
    Passport should contain at least one blank page. 3 Copy of Bio Page.

  • Photograph
    • Photo size should be 45mm X 35mm.
    • Full Face (looking straight forward) on white background.
    • The photo should be clear and identifiable, taken within the last 6 months.
  • Confirmation slip
    To prove reservation of (Flight/cruise) with entry/departure date to/from Japan – Issued by Airlines company or Travel agency.

  • Proof of sufficient funds to defray all the expenses while in Japan.
    • A certificate of income or tax payment issued by a public agency. (Original)
    • Certificate of deposit balance (Original)
  • Itinerary during stay in Japan
    Travel Itinerary, Hotel Booking, Fliers, Leaflets, etc.


Documents to prove financial ability to pay for travel expenses

If Personal/Employed
  • 6 months Bank Statement With Balance Certificate(Personal)
  • Employment Certificate (stating since when, what position & salary)
  • Reference Letter from organization (Stating approval of leave)
  • Annual Income details and its Tax clearance Certificate (Recommended earning 12 lakhs plus yearly)
If Company/Self Employed
  • 6 month’s Bank Statement (Company)
  • Audit Report of Company
  • Tax Clearance Certificate
  • Property Valuation
  • CA Report
  • Additional Income
  • Company Reg. & PAN

Important notes:

  • Documents should be sorted according to the checklist.
  • All the documents mentioned in checklist are mandatory.
  • The visa application process will take 6 working days. In individual cases when further scrutiny is needed this period may extend.
  • All photocopies must be in A4 size including Bank Statement.
  • All original documents should be submitted along with a set of photocopies. (If it is not A4 size)
  • No Pins, Staples, Cello Tape, Paper Clips should be used on documents.
  • In case of a minor, parents or a legal representative can sign on visa application Form. Please indicate the relationship (e.g., signed by father/mother)
  • Equal set of copies is required per applicant if the sponsor is same.
  • Itinerary should match as per the ticket. The travel plan should be at least 10 days after the day of appointment date.
  • Documents related to applicant which is issued in Nepal should be original. (In -case if the documents are in Nepali Language, it should be translated in English)
